As a proud United States Navy veteran, I was trained as a Gas Turbine Mechanic and an Electrician aboard a DD-class Destroyer in the early 90's. These skills helped propel me in the private industry to become the youngest Foreman, and then the youngest and most profitable Project Manager, handling multi-million dollar contracts for a large Connecticut Electrical company.
Our primary projects consisted of large affluent estates where we would be involved right from the design phases, all the way through construction, finishing, and complete customer satisfaction. Some projects were complete renuvations; others were brand new from a hole in the ground. I always formed a bond with the client and executed service and maintenance to their properties for years after. While performing electrical services throughout NY & CT, I was given the opportunity to transfer to Florida to work as a Project Manager with an Audio Visual branch of the company. Of course I agreed to move to beautiful Southwest Florida. With this AV team, I contributed to all functions of the team: creating blueprints and 3D models, proposals, quotes, contracts, budgets, manpower, equipment sourcing and ordering, installations, jobsite supervision/project management, liason between the clients and other contractors/subcontractors. Due to my attention to detail, many of our clients would hire us (in addition to our existing contract) to create punchlists and delegate issues to be resolved in a timely manner. These projects took me all over the country and even coordinating remote projects overseas. These great jobs enabled me to purchase my own homes and help friends and family with theirs. My experience speaks for itself and has helped me hone my skills. As my career progressed and expanded, there were a few pivotal individuals that I would consider, not only as mentors, but as true friends. I work with these quotes in mind: "Making it a race makes it messy. Slow down, pay attention, and do it right. Quality over quantity is what a good client wants, and what a great worker does." - MOC "Always tell them the truth. No matter how bad it sounds. If it's you that messed it up, own it and deal with it." - JP "Never force your beliefs on anyone. And never insult theirs." - Mom |
